Exactly where I’m supposed to be!

First and foremost… Guess who got certified to drive the 15 passenger van? ME! Y’all, I did it. I’m just as shocked as you are. I was holding onto the wheel for dear life but I made it!!

Emotions were high this week because we were moving and learning non stop but mid week we had a training session called hands of peace. It was a really powerful and effective way for all of us to be vulnerable and work together as a team, even when tensions were rising. I will be leading this training session with my members a few weeks into training so I am excited to see the strength is builds amongst the group!

The team leaders are divided into two units, each with a designated unit leader. I am JADE 4! I got the list of my members and have started reaching out to them and getting everything together for their arrival to campus on Wednesday!

This was a busy week full of training, adventures and bonding experiences with this amazing group of team leaders that have become like a big family! We had a movie night and watched “Everything Everywhere All at Once”, sang our hearts out during karaoke and headed to Lake Tahoe for a day!

A little backstory that will make sense in a few minutes: At my grandfathers memorial, I went outside to sit in the grass and sit with my emotions. When I got up, I was COVERED in lady bugs! They were even on my face. Ever since that day, when a lady bug lands on me, I know it’s my poppy reminding me that he’s watching over me. Lady bugs have shown up when I’ve needed love and support the most, and that’s how I know it’s him. Fast forward to yesterday at Lake Tahoe. I was sitting on the sand looking at the mountains, surrounded by my fellow leaders and next to someone that has become very special to me. Someone pointed out that there was a lady bug on my head. Of course, I started to cry. I knew it was my poppy. Once I collected myself, I called my mom to tell her and right as mom picked up the phone, the lady bug landed on the face of the person that was sitting next to me. That’s when the tears REALLY started coming. Crazy, right?  It was at that moment that I knew I am exactly where I am supposed to be. Doing what I am passionate about with an outstanding group of people.

Time for everyone’s (specifically Aunt Susan’s) favorite part:

Rose: Exploring late Tahoe and making memories that will last a lifetime!

Bud: Welcoming my corps members and getting to know them!

Thorn: It was a tough week with some tough conversations but I am so thankful for the amazing people here that not only support me but lift me up when I’m down, it’s truly a blessing!

Catch ya next week!
